About Oaklea Grange School

 

Oaklea Grange School, near Wrexham, is a specialist independent school for young people aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We provide a nurturing, trauma-informed environment where pupils are supported to thrive academically, emotionally and socially. Our personalised "stage not age" curriculum combines academic, vocational, outdoor and community-based learning, helping every young person develop the confidence, skills and qualifications needed to achieve their personal best and prepare for a positive future.

 

Requirements:

 

·        Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

·        Significant recent experience teaching children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or challenging behaviours.

·        Proven track record of achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.

·        Experience of teaching post-16 learners and supporting successful transitions into further education, employment or training.

·        Vocational teaching experience and/or relevant vocational qualifications.

·        Experience of delivering outdoor education, enrichment activities or experiential learning opportunities.

·        Good understanding of the Estyn Inspection Framework.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional resilience and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.

·        Strong commitment to safeguarding, maintaining professional boundaries and promoting positive behaviour.

·        Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

·        Commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.

 

As a Science Teacher, you will:

 

·        Inspire and engage young people with SEMH, trauma-related needs and complex learning profiles through creative, personalised teaching approaches.

·        Deliver a curriculum that combines academic achievement with wellbeing, personal development and preparation for adulthood.

·        Support learners to achieve recognised qualifications while developing confidence, resilience and essential life skills.

·        Contribute to Oaklea Grange's broad and flexible curriculum, including vocational, outdoor and community-based learning opportunities.

·        Build strong partnerships with families, residential care colleagues, external agencies and community organisations to maximise pupil success.

·        Promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through meaningful learning experiences.

·        Ensure all safeguarding, Prevent, Foundations for Safer Care and mandatory training requirements are completed and maintained.
